8th Stop on the Candy Shoppe Designs BLOG HOP MEME

Hello to all!

Are you looking for some fun?  Well, Candy Shoppe Designs is here to deliver!  Right now we're having a BLOG HOP MEME.  Join us for some fun, blog visiting, and a chance to win a GORGEOUS prize from The Paper Trail!.  Start HERE to start the fun!

Here are MY answers to the Blog Hop Meme questions:

1. What is your favorite or most recent Etsy purchase and who are your favorite Etsy sellers?

Oh yes, I love me some Etsy!  Most of my purchases have been from my FAVE Etsy Store The Pink Ninja Addicts!  He he.....I think I have almost all the kits, right Ally? ;)

2. What would you like to tell a teacher who has changed your life?

Shame on me...I've forgotten this teachers name...but I think of her often.  She recognized my creative mind in a short story I wrote in 10th grade about a young surfer boy who lost his father.  She encouraged me to enter it into an Art competition.  I didn't win, but just knowing that she thought it was good enough to enter really boosted my confidence.  It has influenced my life in so many ways because I realized that I had a gift.  that gift lead to more creative endeavors....which led to scrapbooking...which led me here!

3. Did you marry your first true love?
I'd like to think so.  I did not marry my first love and have had a few loves since...but none of them truer than the love I married and had my beautiful babies with.

4. FOUR random examples as to what makes me, me.
I'm a girly girl meets rock star, if you are to describe my sense of fashion and creativity.  Romantic meets Edgy.

I like to be original, but shy away from attention.  I do what makes me feel good.

I am the kind of person that knows a little about a lot of things.  I like to try new things.

My brain goes a mile a minute.  Alot of times I forget to catch people up on what I'm thinking and start a conversation where my brain left off...leaving the person I'm talking to quite confused.  I may come off as a ding bat, but actually am so intelligent that I can't even keep up with myself!

5. A story about a favorite pet:
I lovingly named a stray dog our family adopted, Betsy, after a character from a book I was reading while in 1st grade.  Betsy was the best.  I miss her dearly.

6. What are your favorite WORDS or words that you find yourself using most frequently?
Lately it's been, "I'm not your maid!  Clean up after yourself!"

7.  Is there somebody out there in this world that you once knew or still know that you never got around to sharing your true feelings to? There may be more than just 1 person out there, maybe you're the silent and shy type, maybe you won't say it because you know that they already know what you feel. Who is this person and what would you say to them if they were standing in front of you at this very moment? (LOVING words ONLY!)

Any words I have left to say are best left unsaid...because they aren't very nice things ;)

8.  Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who? (This is my/Mo's question FYI ;)
Okay, so I never MET him, but I locked eyes with this celebrity. I didn't even know who the heck he was! I was sitting in the lobby of this restaurant in Seattle....all by my lonesome waiting for my guy buddies to finish smoking outside...and this GORGEOUS human being slowly starts sneaking into the doorway of the restaurant lobby...and peeks in. I lock eyes with him and think. "OMG, he is soooo gorgeous" and I blush. The restaurant is busy when you look through the doorway past the lobby. He turns and heads out. After a few seconds, I can't help but get up and go outside to see where he goes, deciding to see what the guys are up to, when the real excuse was to see where that exquisite masterpiece of a man walked off to. To my friends, I commented something to the effect "Where'd that hottie go. He's the most beautiful man I've ever layed eyes on." They start cracking up and totally make fun of me for not knowing who he was....it was Alex Rodriguez back when he played for the Mariners (I live in Washington).
9. Who is your celebrity crush and why?
I have a thing for #1 tall men, at least 6 feet tall (I'm 4'11") and #2 I also have a thing for bald men...and #3 If that tall bald man has a goatee, it's OVER......I am IN LOVE WITH.....

COMMON

10. What's your guilty pleasure?
Shoes!  Perfume!  I got too  many of both!

Two past layouts inspired by my obsessions....

So, tell me something about YOU!  For more info on how to participate, check out the beginning of the Blog Hop Meme at Candy Shoppe Designs HERE.

Birthday and a Blog Hop!

You should have come to my blog from Barb's Blog, if not, please start at the beginning at the Simply Obsessed blog and work your way through, to the end!

For over a year now I've been purchasing kits from Simply Obsessed and have loved all of them!

So, of course, I have to wish Simply Obsessed a
Happy 3rd Birthday!

Come join in on the fun during the blog hop and hang out and crop starting August 13th Friday!  Wooohoo!  If you haven't been there yet,
the girls are sweet and the gallery is awesome!  Such talent there!!!  The GAMES are also so fun, I don't know how they come up with all that great madness!!!

Photobucket

Okay, so I've been creating some birthday cards and will finally be able to share them with you!
This card is a masculine card, originally created for my cousin who turned 10...but I made it so stinkin' early that I forgot I already had one and ended up giving him some card I had laying around!  Sigh....
So I gotta hang on to this guy till I find a 10 year-old-to-be!  Ha ha!

These two card designs were borrowed from a card I created at a Stampin' Up! Convention way back when I was a Demonstrator!  It's so easy to make!  What's so cute about it is the pocket inside where you can tuck a gift card.  I used my Big Shot and my flower die cuts!
Easy Peasy!

And to make a masculine birthday card, I just used a stamp set with coordinating punch!
I'm planning on making a BUNCH more to give out as card kits this Christmas to friends and family!
If you start early....like NOW, you'll have plenty of time to finish!
Just make a list of all the families you'll need to give gifts to so you know just how hard you'll have to work to make them all!!!!  One set can be for a whole family!

I hope to have inspired some die-cutting and card making!  Maye a project like this will work for one of the crop creations this weekend!!!

Okay...just a small giveaway!!  For fun!!!
I recently came back from a Hawaii trip and found some cute things I could use in my scrapping endeavors!

I will be giving away 5 "Aloha from Hawaii" playing cards (as featured in 2 of my scrappy creations below)...just so you can see what I did with them!

AND....I'll give away THIS postcard below.....

AND the two post cards on the bottom row of this photo (the surfer and the hula girl)!  Sorry, I used some of the others...he he....

Cute huh?
You can use them in your scrapping or as they were intended....in the mail!!!

Just comment on this post and become a follower (I love new bloggy buddies)!  Of course, if you do not want to be put in the running, just say so in the comments!

Muah!  Good luck and happy hopping!  Thanks soooo much for stopping by and be sure to see what fun the rest of the blog hop holds!  Again, crop starts tomorrow...Friday....August 13!

Next stop is Pam's blog!

Hugs,
Mo

What I DON'T like about Mo!

Welcome Blog Hopees!!!
Thanks for visiting!  And thanks to my bloggy buddies who always find some time to visit me!  Kisses to you all!

As part of the All About Me Challenge Blog Design Team, I was excited to be part of this blog hop!

If you're here as part of the AAM blog hop, THANK YOU!  You probably hopped over from Arlene's blog...so you're on the right track!  If you started here at my blog and want to start at the tbe beginning of the hop....GO HERE!  (Um, you really should cuz there's lots of prizes to be had!)

The prompt is Self-Improvement, (Your Biggest Flaw)!
And here's ONE of mine!  Maybe some of you can relate????

You see, since 2007 I've been REALLY scrapping up a storm!  I found that I needed to upgrade from an armoir (where I used to keep all my craft supplies) to a WHOLE ROOM!  I got my wish in 2008 and took over the extra bedroom in the house.  My room GREW FAST!  Since then, I've managed to collect BUNCHES of craft supplies!  It's just about FILLED TO THE RIM (ya know, like Brim?)....tell me if you get that!  LOL!

I am running outta space in my craft room!  Yikes!

So, on this layout I used ONLY old stash items and bits and pieces of scraps I had...THAT WAS MY OWN RULE!

And I am TOO EMBARASSED to take a photo of my mess to show you all, so you have to settle for the mess I create on this layout!

Ugh...I also have tons of stuff like clothes, old CD's...uh....TAPES (whaaat?....yes), ripped old clothes (Hey, I might be able to use em on a layout.), shoes, old college papers (yah, like I'll ever read em again), old statements (Now how long do we need to keep that crap for tax purposes?) and...tons of other stuff.  My house is soooooooo stinking full of shtuff!  I NEED HELP!

So, here's some things I plan to do.

1) Sort through Craft Room and PURGE...whimper.
2) Collect old clothing and donate them.
3) Maybe have a garage sale (not likely, too much work).
4) Get rid of anything I haven't used in a couple years.
5) Give away or donate old kid things and toys.
6) Dig up all the stuff I've been hiding in the garage and give it away.
7) To buy something new, I have to get rid of or use something old in exchange.
(Mo, do I REALLY have to?.........YES!)
8) Stop buying things unless you have a plan to use it...right away. (I usually put my purchase aside and find it in a bag about a year later and remembering that I had a project planned which I never started....ugh...what a let down.)

That's all I've got so far!  If you have any other tips....PLEASE share!

And this leads into my next topic......HOW BOUT A GIVEAWAY!  (Hmmmm...maybe I'll have to do more of these to achieve my goal of Purging!)....hint hint!

Just leave a comment and give me a tip on how I can stop hoarding things or let me know what your flaw is (he he....c'mon share) and I will randomly pick a comment to win the prize!  Or you can even just leave me a comment on tips to achieve my purging goal!

And the lovely RAK below consists of everything in the photo!  Yes!  That you see there is a 12x12 pack of My Mind's Eye Designer Paper!  All these items are unused!  The stamp pad is still in the shrink wrap and comes with an unopened reinker (by Stampin' Up!)...YAH!  I have 8 1/2 x 11 heavy cardstock, a  paper crimper, a cute stamp set, cupcake liners in 2 sizes (the larger size is a foil liner), 4 large binding rings, mini book elements (printed paper, pages and covers) and assorted metal embellishments!  Just click on the photo for a good close up!

Pssst....guess what?  There's another giveaway (for a bracelet from my Etsy Store....YOU PICK)!

So, I've got my MoMoStamper Etsy shop I'm promoting through Facebook!   To enter this giveaway, just become a fan of my MoMoStamper FB page. Check it out.

MoMoStamper Etsy Store

Promote Your Page Too

Be sure to let me know in your comment ON THIS BLOG POST that you are also a MoMoStamper FB Fan (with your name on FB) and I'll enter you in a second giveaway where only commenters on this blog post (who are also FB fans) will be eligible to win! And don't worry if you're already a FB fan (for my 200 fan goal giveaway already in progress), just tell me you already are and that gets you a second entry (and yes, if you are already in the running for my goal of 200 FB fans giveaway...you are still eligible to win THIS giveaway!)  Cool huh?  AND...it goes the same for the reverse...you will still be in the running to win the OTHER 200 fan goal giveaway on my FB page (you win a bracelet)!  So help me spread the world to get to my goal!  I'm at about 105 now and holding...so give me a BOOST!  Spread the word and suggest MoMoStamper Etsy to other FB friends or spread the word on your bloggy blogs!  Yay yay yay!!!!!!

I would love it if you also became a follower of my blog too (not a requirement)!  I like meeting new bloggy buddies...and who DOESN'T like to be adored by fans???????  Heh heh!

And more scrappy goodness....I KNOW!...it just won't quit huh?.....The sponsor this month at All About Me is Treasury of Memories!  They are an online scrapbook kit, custom vinyl, canvas and custom invitation store. They are offering up their April "Glimpse of Spring" collection kit which includes a TON of Dear Lizzy by American Crafts goodies...how can you resist that???? here's a peek:

You can win this prize if you participate in this blog hop by commenting on every DT post AND creating your Biggest Flaw layout and submitting it to AAM!  (I know, seems like a lot of work...but hey....you will be entered in all of the RAKs offered by some of the DT participants to...so...YOU NEVER KNOW!)  Be like Nike...Just Do It!

Please spread the word about AAM and PLAY whenever you can!  I love all the prompts they come up with!!!  And come back over and over and play along!  My AAM girls are so talented and so sweet to set aside their precious time to help us get some "Me" layouts done!

Oh yes, deadlines...well, for the 2 blog hop giveaways on my blog (the RAK and the bracelet)...um...how bout two weeks since that's when the next prompt will be up!  That puts us at April 21st!  So, post your comments here by then to be eligible!  You will have till

Happy Birthday to.........

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY SIMPLY OBSESSED!

Hi All! If you're hopping over from another Simply Obsessed member blog, MY WARMEST WELCOME! To my awesome blog friends who take time to visit me, THANKS FOR STOPPING BY! Hop along and get ready for some major eye candy! (Note: blog hop officially starts at 6 pm today, August 16 PST). So check back later and everyone should have their projects ready to go!

To (mostly) keep with the theme, I've created some new Birthday craftiness! The first is a layout I made using photos from my Mom's birthday last December. My sisters and I nicknamed her "Lady." I've always thought addressing someone by "lady" sounded funny. "Thanks for your help, lady." or "Hey lady, do you need help with your bags?" just sounds funny! About ten years ago, I was called "lady" for the very first time by this little boy (I was 23 at the time....it made me feel soooo old). It also cracked me up! That day, I saw my Mom and immediately started calling her "hey lady" especially when she thought being called "lady" didn't sound so bad. By the end of the day, she agreed....it sounds kinda weird. We laughed and laughed...and the name stuck!

I created this layout almost entirely using the August Obsession Kit from Simply Obsessed. I love the turquoise add on ribbon I bought!

The ghost clock is awesome and I'm loving the fabric flower and hat pins. I love kit clubs because I am able to play with scrappy awesomeness that I wouldn't normally buy or use!

I purchased these corner stamps too. I love them! I can't wait to use them on cards.

He he...those sequins make me giggle! Soooooo CUTE!

Here's another close up for your viewing pleasure!

My poor hubby is always stuck at work, so he isn't able to make it to a lot of the birthday dinners we have :( One day, he'll have a dayshift job...I hope!

Scrappy Numminess used:

textured card stock - Pinecone - Bazzil

"tailored" pp -French Couture - Lilybee

Alphabeans card stock stickers - bean brown - Jillibean Soup

die cut frame - Lilybee
turquoise lace - May Arts

white sequins - Clarice Inc.

leaf pins - Maya Road

brown velvet stitched blossom - Maya Road

ghost clock - Heidi Swapp

assorted buttons - Foof Ala

emotion clear corners stamp - Heidi Swapp

self-adhesive bling borders - jet- Heidi Swapp

Color Box fluid chalk inkpads - chestnut roan
Pigma Micorn 03 journaling pen - #49 Sakura

Now, the next couple of projects just kinda "happened". Between creating my Blog Hop layouts, I would clean my space and I came across a few scraps here and there. The following 2 cards were then fashioned out of scraps I found in arms reach! No kidding! How cool is that?

It started with my daughter handing me a stack of yellow flowers (see below). She had snipped off the points on them. They were actually part of a stack I had given HER which were reject flowers! I had run a bunch through my die-cut machine (Sizzix Big Shot) and some of the points were cut off. Instead of trashing them (guilt guilt guilt)...I immediately gave them to my daughter and said "look what I made for you"! He he.....boy am I happy I gave them to her! I love what she did with them! Isabel...my little blossoming crafter!
Since these were scraps, I can't quite remember where they came from so I'll just tell you what I remember. That green button is Making Memories, the die cut book flower is actually cut from a vintage book...I sell them on my Etsy Store...I know I keep on putting these flowers on my projects...I hope you all aren't too sick of them...I JUST CAN'T STOP USING THEM! They creep into my projects! He he! It's a phase, bear with me, one day I'll grow out of it!
At the top right hand corner, I layered a rub-on over a larger rub-on.
The solid pieces of cardstock are from Stampin' Up! (old olive and not quite navy).

Okay, on to the next card...which, in keeping with the Birthday theme, IS a birthday card. This too was created from scraps within reach. I really like the way this one turned out! I found that butterfly lying there, ALL INKED and ready to be fancied up! I just inked the edges and added the extra flower, button and tulle!

"Celebrate You" is actually a rub on.

That ticket stub looking piece that says "tru frnd" is actually one of the hostess stamp sets in the Stampin' Up! catalog. It's a set of 6 stamps (called "Admit It") which you can only earn as a Hostess. Go HERE for information on being a Hostess. Don't live near Bothell, Washington? No problem, contact me and we can talk about a Virtual Catalog Party!

And my final project to share was created using Diana's sketch at Sketchy Thursdays! This girl's sketchin' skills are ROCKIN'! Every week, I'm drawn to the sketch! Sometimes, I'm not able to get time to create, but I peek at it and always feel inspired! FYI, she's having a DT Call! So, if you're interested, apply! The current sketch challenge is going until end of day Wednesday, so if you wanna participate, create a layout using the sketch below and go to Diana's blog and link up! The winner gets a RAK! Diana has been awesome with supporting Etsy Shops, so if you would like to contribute a RAK, I'm sure she would love to hear from you as well!

Here's my layout!

This is a layout of photos from my 9th Birthday in 1985. Three of my childhood friends were in the photos: Mary Lou, Jeanette, and Christy. We spent the day at Chuck E Cheese. This was one of my most memorable birthday parties, thanks to my Mom and Dad.

Here's the sketch:

I got to bust out my July Obsession Kit from Simply Obsessed! LOVE IT! Lovin' the Lime Rickey!
The day I took the pictures, it was overcast. I did my best with Photoshop....but it's still a little dim. Today, it's sunny out....silly Washington weather!

I used bits and pieces off some pp I had (Sparrow by Jenni Bowlin). I liked how it looked aged (faux vintage...he he)!

Here's another one of my vintage die cut flowers from MoMoStamper Store! NOT faux vintage! I used a real vintage books to make them. They are a mix of a botany book and a vintage novel.

Another fun angle. I'm practicing my PICTURING skillz! I'm going to earn the right to buy one of those nice camera's...by golly...followed closely by earning the money...or getting the DH to buy it for my bday next March!
For those of you that would like the supply list:
Most items used were from my July Obsession Kit - Lime Rickey - from SimplyObsessed.com

blue textured cardstock - DCWV
Red Numbers - Creative Cafe - Creative Imaginations

MERRY CHRISTMAS! YEAH....YOU READ IT RIGHT!

Welcome one and all! The Great Nat King Cole will be honoring us with MY favorite Christmas Song rendition.....OF ALL TIME! Every year this plays while I get my home decorated! Aaaaaah! Sit back, relax and ENJOY!

Here's a family photo taken last Christmas! Yes...those are footy pajamas I'm wearing! LOL! Um....kid's section....and yes, there were STILL sizes bigger than mine! Tee he he! My poor Hubby was stuck at work...as he usually is for any fun silly things we do! He did make it in time for the opening of presents, though! We have this family tradition where we stay up every Christmas Eve...and when the clock strikes twelve, we start to rip open our presents! We've done this ever since I could remember! We also take goofy photos with each present after we open them.....imagine present bows stuck in our hair and underwear on the head......THOSE kind of pictures!

Welcome to CHRISTMAS IN JULY! The ever so imaginative Maggi put together this party hoppin' bloggin' EXTRAVAGANZA! So after this post go back to MAGGI'S BLOG to see the rest of the participants in her sidebar!

On to the project! So....spacey me was about to share some regular project with you...and I realized....uh....HELLO.....Mo, what in he world is WRONG in that head of yours!....CHRISTMAS IN JULY....gotta be Christmas-y! UGH! So I change plans and decide on something else last minute! BUT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! This baby brain will get better.....won't it?
WON'T IT?

Fortunately, I've got a little project up my sleeve! It's actually part of an old idea I shared last Fall/Winter when the only person reading my blog was.......um....ME, and like the 5 people I forwarded my link to (I'm SURE I ended up in their SPAM folders)! Ah ha ha ha! So I thought, why waste a perfectly great idea....every one's talking about RECYCLING right? Well, HERE YOU GO! LOL! BLOG POST RECYCLING COUNTS, DOESN'T IT?

So here's my fun project:

How many of you want to make handmade Christmas cards, but don't have the time to crank them out? Can you spare about 2 minutes a card???? Well here you go!

These cards are what I like to call QUICK CARDS! Every year, I slam out about 100 of em and give them away to friends and family in packs of 3 for Christmas. The only thing different from the photo above is I make birthday, thank you, and friendship cards which the recipients can then use! I tell them to stick them in their glove compartment so they have an emergency stash of cards available! I've had many friends tell me that my cards came in handy! And I'm sure they're expecting more this Christmas!
So, you can use this idea to make cards to give out to your neighbors, friends, and family AND/OR you can make a bunch of Christmas cards to give away! I usually start all my handmade gift making IN THE SUMMER....YES....like NOW....so that I'm not scrambling during the Holidays. I shoot for finishing all my handmade gifts AND any extra shopping I need to do by OCTOBER! Then, when the Holidays come, I'm much less stressed out and I can actually ENJOY my favorite time of year!

Need handmade gift ideas? Well, last year I started making You Tube videos to share with my Stampin' Up! customers to give them ideas for Holiday projects and I had a featured project of the month. If you need ideas, check them out HERE. I'm planning on starting up again next month!
So GUESS WHAT! I'VE GOT A VIDEO TUTORIAL ON THESE QUICK CARDS! Take a peek! Don't forget to press pause in the Playlist player above before viewing the videos below.

AND here is another video tutorial for creating a Christmas Tree ornament. Warning...I'm a little camera shy normally...so I'm missing some personality in the video! LOL! I kept on thinkin' in my head....."try not to say um....don't say um too much"! He he....I hope I get better!

Hope you got some ideas from those videos!
Here's another Christmas photo to share. Below is a photo of my sister Krystal and I making handmade cards for gift giving. We had a scrappy Christmas Eve! The funnest kind!

And just for fun, I'm throwing this video in for Maggi, cuz for the last 2 days I've been singing this song thanks to the title of one of her recent blog posts which really didn't have to do anything with this song...LOL! Say Say Say..........

Ready for the giveaway? Leave a comment below and let me know if you'd prefer tutorials set to music or narrated tutorials....or a mix! I've been trying to muster up the courage for more narrated tutorials....and a subscriber actually asked me to do them. I'm limited now in my music choices and can only pick the ones available through You Tube....the choices aren't great either! So what do ya think? Video or Narrated tutorials?
Here's the prize! The winner CAN CHOOSE between these different goodies in m
MoMoStamper Etsy Store
YOU GET 2 DIFFERENT SETS! Pick 2 of the same or 2 different kinds of goodies! Click on the links below to see more photos of each set! DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE AN EMAIL IF IT'S NOT ALREADY LINKED TO YOUR BLOG/PROFILE so I can contact you if you win.
VINTAGE BUTTERFLIES

VINTAGE FLOWERS 2

I will draw the winner by Random.Org tomorrow (Sunday) morning 7/26/09! GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for stopping by for Christmas in July!

A big thanks to Maggi for hosting such a fun blog hop!
