What I DON'T like about Mo!

Welcome Blog Hopees!!!
Thanks for visiting!  And thanks to my bloggy buddies who always find some time to visit me!  Kisses to you all!

As part of the All About Me Challenge Blog Design Team, I was excited to be part of this blog hop!

If you're here as part of the AAM blog hop, THANK YOU!  You probably hopped over from Arlene's blog...so you're on the right track!  If you started here at my blog and want to start at the tbe beginning of the hop....GO HERE!  (Um, you really should cuz there's lots of prizes to be had!)

The prompt is Self-Improvement, (Your Biggest Flaw)!
And here's ONE of mine!  Maybe some of you can relate????

You see, since 2007 I've been REALLY scrapping up a storm!  I found that I needed to upgrade from an armoir (where I used to keep all my craft supplies) to a WHOLE ROOM!  I got my wish in 2008 and took over the extra bedroom in the house.  My room GREW FAST!  Since then, I've managed to collect BUNCHES of craft supplies!  It's just about FILLED TO THE RIM (ya know, like Brim?)....tell me if you get that!  LOL!

I am running outta space in my craft room!  Yikes!

So, on this layout I used ONLY old stash items and bits and pieces of scraps I had...THAT WAS MY OWN RULE!

And I am TOO EMBARASSED to take a photo of my mess to show you all, so you have to settle for the mess I create on this layout!

Ugh...I also have tons of stuff like clothes, old CD's...uh....TAPES (whaaat?....yes), ripped old clothes (Hey, I might be able to use em on a layout.), shoes, old college papers (yah, like I'll ever read em again), old statements (Now how long do we need to keep that crap for tax purposes?) and...tons of other stuff.  My house is soooooooo stinking full of shtuff!  I NEED HELP!

So, here's some things I plan to do.

1) Sort through Craft Room and PURGE...whimper.
2) Collect old clothing and donate them.
3) Maybe have a garage sale (not likely, too much work).
4) Get rid of anything I haven't used in a couple years.
5) Give away or donate old kid things and toys.
6) Dig up all the stuff I've been hiding in the garage and give it away.
7) To buy something new, I have to get rid of or use something old in exchange.
(Mo, do I REALLY have to?.........YES!)
8) Stop buying things unless you have a plan to use it...right away. (I usually put my purchase aside and find it in a bag about a year later and remembering that I had a project planned which I never started....ugh...what a let down.)

That's all I've got so far!  If you have any other tips....PLEASE share!

And this leads into my next topic......HOW BOUT A GIVEAWAY!  (Hmmmm...maybe I'll have to do more of these to achieve my goal of Purging!)....hint hint!

Just leave a comment and give me a tip on how I can stop hoarding things or let me know what your flaw is (he he....c'mon share) and I will randomly pick a comment to win the prize!  Or you can even just leave me a comment on tips to achieve my purging goal!

And the lovely RAK below consists of everything in the photo!  Yes!  That you see there is a 12x12 pack of My Mind's Eye Designer Paper!  All these items are unused!  The stamp pad is still in the shrink wrap and comes with an unopened reinker (by Stampin' Up!)...YAH!  I have 8 1/2 x 11 heavy cardstock, a  paper crimper, a cute stamp set, cupcake liners in 2 sizes (the larger size is a foil liner), 4 large binding rings, mini book elements (printed paper, pages and covers) and assorted metal embellishments!  Just click on the photo for a good close up!

  2. Uh, yea, I can totally relate. How to stop hoarding? Hmm, I'll have to come back to read your readers tips. LOL I have promised myself that when I buy something, I have to break into it the very next time I scrap. No "saving for special projects." LOL

  3. I just requested you as a friend of FB!!!

Love the creation and I must admit...I toooooo am a hoarder...I have so much stuff stuck in every corner of my room...I too want to purge...but never get around to doing it!!! I am cleaning big time in the house...taking one closet at a time and it feels good to take the items to the local womens shelter!!!!

Wishing you a great week sweet friend!!!

  4. Wowee zowee girl! That's a pretty awesome prize and I LOVE your layout! What a great use of scraps! So happy to have you on the team!

  5. I too have a tendency to be a pack rat, but lately I've been trying to purge some things. I am looking at things and asking myself if it is really that important or if I can let it go. I have two small children and an unfinished basement, so a lot of their stuff is in our living room. Since we want to finish the basement I've had to let things go to make room -- so I've been parting with the worn out, stained, not so pretty stuff as well as stuff I don't realistically see myself using in the near future. It's hard, but I know in the end I will be able to enjoy my home better without it.

  6. I donate scrappy stuff & I take clothes & other things to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. When I'm shopping, I make myself think about if I really need it & if I'm really going to use it (or wear it). It helps!

  7. I am also an incurable hoarder. I think it stems from being raised by my grandparents who were raised in the Great Depression so they hoarded what they could. This drives my hubs CRAZY. He's very minimalistic. Do you remember the discussion on Vintage Plum way back when about measuring how high your stash of paper would be if stacked? Do you remember I CLEARLY won that. (Or lost, depending on how you look at it.) I, too, am currently purging my scrap room. As in I'm taking a break right now to look at my fave blogs! Of course, I've been trying to purge it for a couple weeks now. I always find something else more pressing to do. But I have a community garage sale goal I'm hoping to hit (week from Saturday)...make some $$ to buy more stuff, lol! So, I'm as interested as you in hearing people's suggestions on how to purge this stuff because I'm failing miserably. I've heard Julie's suggestions before and she has a GREAT idea there. Giving to foster and hospitalized kids gives me so much incentive. You KNOW I"m a FB fan!!!! I'll spread the word, too. And I so hope to play along with AAM this time around. Luvs!!

  8. Wow thats alot of giveaways!!! I would have to say to help you from hoarding is stay home and scrap away! Doesn't hurt to give away a RAK of goodies you don't use anymore once in a while! Good luck to you and love your layout! Great memory!

  10. Oh, this sounds all too familiar! I hoard (and have cassette tapes and old bank statements too!)

Awesome layout for the challenge :)

  11. First. I love your lo. I'm not a hoarder, every year I purge I use something old in almost every LO. I give my old shoes and clothes to charities, now for Haiti I collected from every closet and gave more than 6 of the huge garbage bags away. It's a good feeling I promise. DH is a hoarder, and sometimes he gets so overwhelmed with all the stuff. Good luck.

  12. hehe, love your layout! I definitely have that problem, too.

  13. A great layout, MO!!!! And seriously, lately I have become less and less of a pack rat. I've been all about simplifying and throwing out what I don't need. So my tip is just go for it. Look at it, and say "Will I really use this anytime soon?" and if the answer is no, get rid of it. I just donated a ton of old scrapbooking supplies to Big Brother/Big Sister. A friend of the family works there, so I asked her if they could use it and she said the kids without a big brother/sister do arts and crafts so she was happy!!! Hope you get it all under control:) Love ya girlie!!! Jess

  14. Killer layout!
I am somewhat of a recovering hoarder but once in a while I fall off the wagon. What I have done in the past is pack up a Studio Calico box filled with papers and embellies I have not used in over a year and donated them to the Pediatrics dept. for kids to do journals or layouts or what ever will make them happy. A few months ago AMM had one of those drives. You know kids don't care that the Sassafras papers were from last year :)
I need to do of of those shameful layouts about me ;)
    Have a wonderful week!!!

  16. mo, your post was soooo fun i was laughing when i read it - - coz i totally can sooo relate!!!!! i do not let my hubby see my craft space - - well, just so not to give him an idea of how many and how much i hoard. LOL.

  17. Love, love your project, it is super cute.

  18. What a great layout! I don't often do layouts with no photo, but I love to see how other people do them.

As far as a tip to work on that "Pack Rat" within us all, one thing that I have tried is to EARN the right to purchase something. I challenge myself to complete a certain number of layouts or to use up a certain amount of ribbon, etc. THEN I allow myself to be rewarded by going shopping!

  19. Oh I can so relate!! I always say that I am a much better scrapbook shopper than actual scrapbooker. This past week I had decided that if I buy a new tool or paper, I MUST use it right away. Great layout!

  20. Love your LO. :) It's a flaw that MANY of US have. :) I too need to 'simplify'. . .seems like I'm trying all of the time. (Hasn't worked yet -he-he!) Good luck on your self improvement. . .and I'm am with you on the yard sale thing. . .sounds great. . .but is a TON of work. : )

  21. I am now a facebook fan! Love your creations!

My suggestion on not hoarding and so on is quit buying, LOL I know I know it is tough, but I have done it,when I go shopping if I am only buying it because it is pretty then I don't get it, I only buy what I know I will need for a LO or something pertaining to LO's I will be doing. I have so much stuff that I know I will probably never use and I wanted to quit accumulating things so this is what I done.

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

  22. I love the "chaos" in your LO.

I love that you challenged yourself and used older stuff from your stash. It sounds like you're making the right moves towards getting rid of stuff, too. with 4 kids I need to get rid of stuff as soon as it isnt needed anymore to make room for new things...or else stuff will be flying out the windows. LOL. Good luck

  23. I love your layout as it tells your story on hoarding and I can't blame you because I can't see it as a flaw because I have something similar in that I can't let go...especially crafting supplies. I'd love to have my own room as I am growing out of my space. Recently, I did purge. It was awful - throwing away paper scraps. But I had to. I need to be more organized to scrap more efficiently! I hoard and I'm OCD; so it keeps it all organized (doesn't always help my flaw, but hey...). Love that layout telling your story! ;D

  24. Every scrapper is a hoarder and a pack rat at one time or another...or should I say, "always and forever"? LOL!

    Enjoy!

    stay scrappinpretty,

  25. Oh, I know...sometimes it is too difficute to give up all the things we have in our craft room..and then just keep buying more and more...your layout is wonderful! Thanks for the inspiration!

  26. I'm not a big facebook fan but I will definitely add you on my blogger and tell the world. I know about what you mean about using all bits and pieces for your LO. I did the exact same thing. (hearts)

  27. Very creative. . . and resourceful!

  28. Ha ha Mo, I think you've struck a chord with every scrapbooker with this post! Great LO. My tip - just use your stuff, that's what I'm doing at the moment and it's fun, and sometimes challenging, to rummage through my stash to find things that go together.

  29. fun! I am following you here and became a fb fan: Dora Orrick Phillips

I scrapped almost the exact same idea for the challenge. love yours!
