It's Yur Birthday!

You might have already seen me make some layouts with this kit.  It's the January 2010 Kit (Dream Street Urban Ink) from Simply Obsessed.  Except for the black Thickers, everything on this layout was created using the SO Kit!

I've been a kit subscriber for a few months now and have LOVED every kit!  They seem to speak to my own personal scrapbooking style.  Now, I am NOT being compensated for any of my SO shout outs...I just really love the kits!

And I struggle with creating masculine pages, so I was sooooo excited when Heather (SO owner) put this one together!  I loved all the gears and the stars!  So stinkin' cute!

I also have been sticking to my goal of getting my inspo from one of my FAVORITE forums....Scrap Freak!  Though they do not sell kits, they do have an online store and an AMAZINGLY active forum where you can find TONS of inspiration through the challenges and other threads!  If you haven't checked them out already....YOU GOTTA!

Right now, I'm working on the Freaky Friday Challenges and they have this DAILY JANUARY CHALLENGES called Jump Start Your Scrapping!  Holy smokes!  I cranked out about 3 layouts so far using these challenges!  Actually, I counted all the layouts I've done since the 1st and I think I'm up to 14!  Not counting cards!

Anyway, back to the point...the challenge was to tell a story with your page and I think I remember something bout Birthdays.....so I came up with this one.

You might recognize these photos from Gabe's 3rd Birthday!  There's my cousing "Sweet T" with the cute lil fake grin!

I took the journaling from a previous blog post I did about Gabe's birthday.  I do this a lot.  It makes it so much easier to focus the idea of a layout and write out the journaling.....SO MUCH EASIER.

Do you use your blog to come up with your srapbooking pages?

Mo

Yes....another boy page!!!

Sorry!  No man of the week this week!  January is proving to be a very busy month!  But, I hope to snag some time to work on the Man of the Week post for next Monday because I'll have a stretch of 5 days off!!!!  Woooohooo!  Oh!  We're going inner tubing next Saturday!!  I'm so excited!  I mean...for ME to go down the hill.  Ah hah!  But also for the kids to enjoy themselves!  And that means more photos to scrap!

In the meantime, lemme share another layout I created over the weekend.  (I scrapped about 4!)  But I'll have to hold off on sharing one of them cuz it's for the Pink Ninja's Challenge!!!!  Maybe I'll sneak you a peek though!

I headed over to Scrapjacked for this one!
CHECK OUT Stepanie Wheeler's inspiring layout and see what you can do!

I used the January 2010 Kit at Simply Obsessed.  This kit's awesome for scrapping boy photos!
I love all the stars and gears and colors!

I scrapped photos from a day Samual visited.
We were eating some yummy chicken noodle soup!

Here's my cute nephew doing a silly dance!  He's so cute cute cute!

Gabe was sweet enough to feed him!  I soooo loved watching the two of them just hanging out!
They are so sweet to each other sometimes!

I ESPECIALLY love this photo of Gabe feeding Samual....he he!  I loved they way this layout turned out!  I was able to use all 3 photos I took on this layout!

Well, I've got an explosion of Scrapping Mojo and no more challenge blogs to play at till their new prompts!  He he.....anybody got any suggestions??????

Chubbs!

Here's my Sketchy Thursday layout!! I had about 30 minutes to do this one!! That's why I LOVE ST, because I can crank out a layout QUICK! I love love love it! It's a little different from what I usually do....lot of good inking!!!

I used a buncha Prima flowers.....Prima ROCKS!
I also busted out some of my cool Walnut Ink antiquing solution...it's pretty much black...so very cool!

I used the last of these cool border stickers I had....  And I used some the negative part of a cutout to make that swoopy thing on the side....I dunno what you call that shape!  I used some yellow pigment ink on dark olivey paper and then ripped it out!  FUN!

Samual is soooo cute!  Look at those super cute cheeks!!!  He gets pinched ALL THE TIME!  Poor guy...poor cheeks!

Okay, I know I've been super dee duper busy...but I've been creating bunches of stuff for Christmas!  I'll have to take pictures to show you guys the projects I've been working on!

I'm soo tired of charging all the holiday presents on our credit card!!!  I'm still paying off bills from 2 years (or more) ago!  It's GOT to stop!  So....I've decided to make most of the presents this year!  I've also picked up an extra day at work...I'll be giving H1N1 shots this weekend!  Easy peasy!!!!  Plus I get weekend pay!  That should pay for a BUNCH of presents!

And I've been busy planning the birthday parties for my rug rats!  I'll be spending part of the weekend at Chuck E Cheese!  Ugh...buy also YAY....cuz I won't have to worry bout the cleanup!!!  Wahoooo!!!!

Are you ready for NEW MOON???????  For all of you going....have fun!  What are your weekend plans?

Mo

Sweet!

Here's the latest sketch for Sketchy Thursdays!  Wooohooo!  I'm having so much fun being GDT...cuz I got all the sketchs and I've been creating!!!!  The prizes are awesome!  If you haven't yet, check out the sketches and let them inspire you!  Get a bunch of layouts done....and maybe win a prize!!!!  What could you lose????  Really!

Here's my take on the sketch.  This is Tristan, my baby cousin.  He's my little boy!!!  Yes, my cousin...yes, my first cousin...I'm the eldest granddaughter on my Mother's side.  Tristan is the youngest grandchild.  Aren't we a pair?????  I love him so!  Gabriel gets sooooo jealous sometimes when Tristan comes over.

This boy is such a sweet and quiet kid!  He's 3.  There are times when I forget he's here because he doesn't say a word!  He just sits and watches t.v. or plays...he doesn't bother anyone and ususally doesn't cause any trouble!  I always have to check on him to see if he's hungry or thirsty or bored.  I've got to constantly remind him to speak up and tell me when he needs something!

He loves hugs and kisses and when I take him around shopping, he's the EASIEST KID!  Watching him along with Gabe is really not a problem at all!!!  Gabe, on the other hand, is VERY EXHAUSTING!

I always tease Tristan and ask if I could keep him.  If I could guarantee I could have a kid just like him...well, I'd have a 3rd one!  So, I just enjoy borrowing him every so often!

See!  He's the sweeeeeeetest kid you'll ever meet!

I love this canvas tag!  And yes, this one is another Krafty Kate's creation from Jess!  Ain't it sooooo cool???????  If you likey, visit my talented buddy over at her Etsy and check out her inventory or requst a custom item!  I'm loving the headband she's got there right now!

This is the set I bought awhile ago....LOVE IT!  They're gone...all used up...boo hoo!  I think Jess could custom make you one if you wanted ones just like these!

Here's that awesome headband!!!  LOVE!  Jess!  You're so cute here!!!  I love your hair!!!!!

Well, if you haven't already, head on over and check out the DT's creations with this sketch cuz those girls can sure scrap!

Have you voted for Mo's Man of the Week?  Which celebrity would you like to ogle on my blog?  Drop me a comment!  Voting takes place on the sidebar!  Poor Omar Epps....no votes yet (as I'm wrting this post on Tuesday)!  Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Hugs,
Mo (What the blogger happened to my teal?)  C'mon Blogger!  Oh, I'm miffed!

Need some prayers and well wishes....

See my little nephew there in the middle? He's in the hospital and not doing too well. Grandpa (my dad) found him lethargic yesterday when he came home from work and it seems the poor baby is sooo dehydrated. Last night he was barely moving and they couldn't register a temperature or blood pressure. They are trying to give him fluid right now in hopes of turning him around. At this point, we're not sure if he has an infection, ingested something poisonous, or is bleeding somewhere. We really don't know. He needs to be stabilized first before any further testing. My sister, Krystal (all the way on the right) is his mommy. She's not doing too well either. But, this morning, he's opened his eyes and is looking around. Hopefully he'll be up for visitors in the next couple of hours. Please keep little Diego in your prayers.

Okay, on a more fun note, here is my layout for the Dream Girls Challenge 34 called White It Out. And, I had to fudge a little, cuz I don't have a lot of white materials...so I did the best I could.

This is a photo of my nephew, Samual. If I ever had to admit that there was a baby out there that rivaled the cuteness of my Gabe, it's this little guy! Actually, I'll just admit it....he's cuter! He is soooo adorable! I will have to find a photo showing his beautiful hair one day and share it! You can see a little curl peeking out of that hat.

Here's a close up of the journaling and the vintage MoMoStamper flowers.

I also used some die cut top notes (behind the photo). I'm planning on stocking my Etsy store with them soon.

I love the look of the ribbon behind the flowers. After securing the ribbon onto the page with adhesive, I then stitched it down the middle. I too have caught on to the stitching craze! I'm sooooo glad I got a sewing machine a few years ago!
I used a mix of clear and white buttons and brads. I soooo had to try hard not to put a splash of color on this page! But, I love the way it looks now!
supply list: beige textured card stock (Bazill), white card stock (Michael's), vintage flowers and vintage top notes (MoMoStamper Etsy Store), white flowers (Prima), buttons and brads (Making Memories), chipboard (Scenic Route - worn grid redmond stencil), white ribbon (Martha Stewart)
Have a great weekend yall!
Hugs,
Mo

Sorry everyone! Been doing some end of summer cleaning and school shopping....as you know...busy busy busy! Thankfully, we're just about done! Phew!

So, over the next few days, I'll have some projects to share! I've only got time to post 1 today, because I've got to get a few work hours in! I dunno, an overcast day might mean a busy day at the Walk-In-Clinic! Work day, go easy on me!!!! No full moon, I hope...nothing wacky please!

Here's layout of my cousin. He's sooooooo stinkin cute! He's 6 now! I absolutely love this kid. He LOVES art and is always asking to watch me while I scrapbook! He thinks it soooo cool! When I pick him up from school, he's always got paint all over his hands and clothes...sometimes his hair! Look at that dimple!

I made this out of one of the Simply Obsessed Kits! It's full of Lime Rickey stuff!. The Chipboard wasn't part of the kit, although it's Lime Rickey too. AND the kit is on sale today! They were having a special kit on sale every day.

This kit is actually $15 TODAY!!! Yah! I think you can also purchase the other kits that were on sale earlier in the week! So hurry and pop over there! Here's a link to help you HERE!

Close up of the title...done with thickers!

I love the embellies in this kit! Sooooo cute!
Okay, on to the winner!

Yes, HARD WORK! Maybe he'll be done by the time he's 3 (in almost exactly 3 months). We're having problems with #2...he doesn't like doing it on the toilet.....cuz we all know how comfortable standing and pooping in your pants is! LOL!

Come on! Get Your Freak On!

Photobucket

Okay! Ready for some enabling? I'm the gal for you! I have had the pleasure of finding an awesome site which I've been lurking! You know when you meet someone and you just click? THAT is what it was like for me and this forum! He he....you think I'm joking....I'm serious.

Whenever I discover a new place to play, I've GOT to be drawn in pretty immediately! I don't know what it is about this place but I love it! It's called SCRAP FREAK. The forum is sooooo welcoming, you will not believe how quickly you'll get a "hello" or "welcome".

The prices are very competitive and they carry lots of different manufacturers! AND THEY'RE HAVING A SUMMER SALE! Yep, everything is normally already 10% off and right now till June 28th you get an ADDITIONAL 25% off EVERYTHING...including Clearance items...some of which are marked WAY DOWN! Lemme just toss a name out.....COSMO CRICKET! Yes...CLEARANCD....YES....EXTRA 25% off of THAT price! Um....yeah! I think from the time I got the news...an hour later I had made a purchase and I'm soooo excited to get my goodies! I'm not sure how shipping works but I think I only paid $5!

Wooohooo! With the stress I've been going through at work....this sure makes me feel better!

Okay this post will not be without some eye candy.......I made a layout for their GDT and it's not my "usual" color choices! I got to use some of my Sassafras papers! He he.

I decided to document some of Gabe's favorite things. Although this photo was of him at 7 months of age, the favorites I listed are current as of age 2 1/2 years old:
Food: fruits and vegetables (I know....weird...you give him a plate of food and he PICKS OUT the veggies and leaves the rest....he's learned the word PROTEIN! You need to eat more PROTEIN...so I'm giving him some soy milk and he seems to love it!)
Drink: apple juice (Although to him everything is "appo jooos"....but when you put a cup of OJ and Apple Juice next to each other...he always goes for the apple juice.)
Cartoon: Dora the Explorer (NOT to be confused with DIEGO.....oh no...don't you DARE try to fake him out with Diego cuz he's NOT HAVIN' IT!)
Activity: singing and drawing (Which includes drawing on walls and furniture! I don't know how he finds these pens!)

Here's all the other GDT entries for June at Scrap Freak. Everyone had some great layouts/projects!

Oh! And chickety check this out! I got this link from one of the blogs I stalk! Do you like pizza? How bout cookies?.....hmmmmm......CLICK HERE. All I can say is YUMMMMMMM!

Gabe in the Garden

Hello hello hello! So, I got the "Mo"Jo goin' on today!!!! I wanted to enter the weekly contest over at Vintage Plum which is called "Scrap Nature"....so if you are up for the challenge, go over to Vintage Plum, create an account and start struttin' your stuff!

There are so many great people there and AMAZING talent! Very inspirational! Oh! And go blog hopping through the different member blogs!!! It was sooooooo fun discovering new people and their blogs!

I just got a subscription and got the March Kit in the mail! It's called Hill Country. CLICK HERE for a link to the photo and kit contents!

But this post is not about the VP kit....that one will be later...I'm still working on a layout....I'll share later!
For this page, I used mostly items from a paper kit called Bloom & Grow "Bloom" line made by My Mind's Eye. CLICK HERE to see the papers in the kit....warning....you may just fall in LOVE!

I constructed some cute flowers from my Blossoms & Blooms Kit and placed them down the left side of the page so that they looked like they were popping out of the vine design of the patterned paper. The scallop piece was a die cut strip. I used 2 colors of ink to give the distressed look to the layout. I inked the torn edge of the vine paper, the scallop strip, photo mats, journaling blocks, and chipboard piece.

I really enjoyed using the colors in this kit!

Close up of the journaling:
I used a really dark brown Cats Eye chalk ink to ink up the edges of the journaling card (see below for link).

Materials Used:

Jo-Ann Scrap Essentials Chipboard Letters

by Making Memories

Cats Eye Stylus Set by Color box: I used the black/brown ink.

by Stampin' Up!
(light brown ink)

Crop-A-Dile

by EK Success

Orange Peel Cardstock in Olive by Bazzil Basics Paper

Here are photos of my son, Gabe, playing under the sprinkler in the back yard last summer! In the end, he ended up naked....so, of course, I took photos!

I LOVE that the photos were taken at strategic angles.....NOT...nothing strategic about it...I didn't realize how funny these photos were until I saw them later downloaded to my computer! He's gonna hate me when he's older for taking these photos!!!!

I placed my new layout in my super cool frame! I've talked about this awesome frame before. It's by Creative Memories and it holds this 12" x 12" layout. It also comes with these tiny clothespins you can clip onto the "clothesline" located on the lower half of the frame.

Well, that does it! Remember to check out Vintage Plum....it's soooo fun there! Check out the forum because there is so much info there! Keep checking back because there are lots of new things going on there all the time!!!!

Scrapbooking on Canvas!

I finally gave it a try and it worked out! I love the texture, colors and dimensions that scrapbooking brings to your photos. Today, I bought an 8" x 10" canvas from Michaels and turned it into a beautiful "page" that I could display and enjoy in my craft room! Now I can look up and smile as I think of my little Gabriel! I tried to get it on camera but I ran out of space on the disc! Oh well, I'll just have to make another one for my daughter, Isabel's photo. I will post this to my You Tube channel soon :)

I painted the canvas with acrylic paint and craft ink. I stamped a spotted background using one of my favorite Stampin' Up! background stamps and a Classic Stampin' Pad in Basic Black! I used mostly Making Memories chipboard and adhesive ribbon, some magenta and blue ribbon I had lying around, and decorative stickers by American Crafts (I've been trying to find a reason to break into my new stash of stickers!). It didn't take very long because I used an embossing heating tool to speed up the drying time for the acrylic paint and decoupage I used!

Oh, here's a tip: If you've got that feeling like....something's missing from your layout...something's keeping you from saying..."okay, I'm done with this".....try adding some black and white embellishments! Black and white is so versatile....it goes with sooooooo many things and it might just be what you were looking for!

Well, this project was lots of fun and quite therapeutic! I borrowed my parent's camera, so as soon as I figure it out, I'll make another one so I can record it!!!
