Create a Chalkboard, Polaroid Photo on a Scrapbook Page with Spinner Printable

Lesson 4 is up on my YouTube Channel!  Learn how to make an easy chalkboard inspired photo mat as a centerpiece to your scrapbook page!  Embellish further with a spinner which I've created and included as a FREE printable below!

I would love to see if you create something with these ideas so please link it in the comments below to share!

Pride by Maureen Esquillo-Kao Supplies Cardstock:  Recollections; Patterned Paper:  Cosmo Cricket, Pinecone Press; Alphabet Stickers:  Heidi Swapp; Spinner: Cosmo Cricket; Punches:  Marvy Uchida; Label Maker: Dymo; Other:  Book page

Thanks for visiting!

Spinner (included below):

This is an optional embellishment for your layout.  Print in color on 8.5”x11” white cardstock, presentation paper or photo paper. Cut out the square and the arrow. Pierce a hole or punch a hole through the middle of the arrow and secure it to the spinner with a brad.

Another option would be to glue down the arrow onto the spinner and add a button (or other circle embellishment) to the middle of the arrow.

Live, Laugh, Love, Eat

With the new year comes New Year Resolutions!  I need to up my activity level again :)  This photo was taken a few years ago at a the Iron Girl in Seattle.  I did the 5K that day.

We ate a honkin' breakfast right after the 5K and all we could think about was finishing as fast as we could so we could go straight to breakfast.

Some fun elements of this scrapbook page:

1) Flower - I added a yellow misted flower to the top right hand corner of this scrapbook page but I put a spin on its use.  Instead of adding a flower center, I used the flower to accent the corner of my photo, adding die-cuts, bling and ribbon to frame out the photo as well.

2) Arrow - I jazzed up the die-cut arrow (I think I might have even cut it out from the patterned paper) with some adhesive gems and Liquid Pearls.

3)  Scene - I knew I wanted to add that tree to my page so to work it in, I hand cut some hills out of green card stock.  I was able to use one side as a journaling area for my scrapbook page.

I hope 2014 is treating you well so far!  Put your goals down on paper and set off to achieve them!

Sister Sister Sister

In celebration of sibling day (yeah, I didn't know there was a day - apparently it was yesterday according to Facebook posts...he he), I'm sharing a sister scrapbook page!

Your Day

I totally forgot to share this one!  This is a scrapbook page I did in celebration of my sister's birthday last August!  This page was published in the September 2012 issue of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine.

I played with modeling paste and added it to that kraft colored tag above.  I've been using lots of the techniques I learned in Christy Butters' class at The Art Studio.  I absolutely loved that class!

I've got an evening to myself coming up and I think I'll be spending it in my craft room playing around with mixed media supplies!  What are you up to?

Girlz Nite! Awwwwww yeah!!!!

Yay! Another layout inspired by Sketchy Thursdays at Diana's Blog! You have till next Wednesday to upload your creation if you wanna play along!

I flipped the sketch for this layout and it looks a little different.

Here are "my girlz"....I've known them all for maybe 15 years or so...maybe more! I just love them! I'm the one decked out in the Halloween colors...and no...it wasn't Halloween. I think it was December...he he.

I used my September Kit from Vintage Plum called Fashion Forward. Boy, I'm getting hit with lots of sad news. This is VP's last kit. Booo hoo....seriously, I'm tearing up. Fortunately, they will be focusing on making their Vintage Plum papers...and selling them on Etsy (I think). Jenny over at VP has been so awesome, so sweet, and I really love the kits over there....LOVE THEM ALL! They will be selling the rest of the inventory until they're out but are keeping the forum and galleries open. I'll be lost without my VP kits...but I'll have the forum and the lovely ladies I have met!
Good Luck to Vintage Plum! I love you guys!

See that dress form? That's a VP paper. It rocks, doesn't it?

And I've been stitching as well. So happy I got a sewing machine a few years ago! Now, it's being used! My sewing machine is not feeling neglected anymore.
So, if there is a VP kit you've been eyeing, head on over and scoop it up before they are out. I'm thinking about getting me another August/Fashion Forward Kit!
Sigh.............................

My Happy List....POCKET STYLE!

Here is another layout using a DT kit from Scrap Freak! The layout uses a lot Jenni Bowlin items. JB rocks!

I also used the weekly challenge over at VintagePlum.com where you are to make a list of things that make you happy. Yes, there are A LOT of things that make me happy.

I love the idea of pockets on mini books and layouts. What a perfect project for pockets! And if I remember something I want to add to the list, there's room on the back of the journaling spots!

I created a pocket with the die cut Jenni Bowlin paper which I cut in half. In it, I slipped a teal piece of cardstock to which I added a tab.

I created another pocket using a zig zag strip I cut from the Collage Press paper. In it, I've tucked a tag and notebook journaling sheet from the Ormolu Etsy Store and another large flower journaing card by Jenni Bowlin. I added a mini closthespin decorated with rub-ons and a blinged out paper flower to the flower card. I also added a teeny tiny clothespin to the Ormolu jounaling notebook sheet! Sooooo stinkin cute!!!!

The teal paper flower and ribbon peeking out are connected to ANOTHER mini tag from The School Locker Etsy Store. I love how it just hangs on the corner, looking like it's glued on.
My FAVE pocket is the vintage library tag embellished with numminess: Ormolu circle tag, a beautiful turquoise shell button, a die cut chipboard piece and a vintage die cut flower from my MoMoStamper Etsy Store.

I dusted off my sewing machine and stitched around one of the Collage Press papers for added detail.

The quote on the Ormolu circle tag goes perfectly with the theme of the page.

The title was created with raw chipboard letters decorated with Distress embossing layered further with Distress Stickles. As I was painting on the Distress stickles with my brush, I dusted the petals of the corner flower with some of the excess Stickles.

See that red flower? My son tore apart one of my fake potted plants, and a collected the sad bits of flowers and put them in a jar in my craft room.....the red flowers live on!

Sweet Heart...but don't let that face fool you!

Here's my first Scrap Freak DT layout! If you haven't heard of this place yet, let me give you a little info. It is an online store with a very active and fun forum! The DT is soooo talented, they really blow me away! Monica owns the store...she's AWESOME! Shipping is very fast too! It's not really a kit club, but the DT do a very good job of putting things together and posting their creations. What's cool is, you can then buy exactly what you want from the store! If you have trouble putting together coordinating materials, just look at the DT gallery. Sometimes, there is a project kit available which is also very cool. Shipping is only $5 (unless it's over $60 then it's FREE)! And the items in the store are always 10% off!

I soooo can't wait for the new CHA stuff to start rolling in the store! Hurry hurry hurry!

Okay, now for the layout details.

I used a photo of my super cute niece Priyanni! She's a little ball of fire...and also a sweetheart! Don't let that angel face fool you, though! She's TOUGH!

Journaling reads: She's our little sweetheart and Diva-in-training! This girl loves the camera, pretty shoes, dancing, singing and dressing up VERY girly!

This is one of my creations as ScrapFreak Guest DT! I got my kit in the mail and love it because it's not something I would actually put together on my own. I love trying new things...I just need a push! Bree put together such awesome kits for us - CLICK HERE to see all the other kits! Yeah, I know....Numminess!
Those Jenni Bowlin rub ons are AWESOME!

For the title, I used my 3's as E's..AGAIN....I actually like the look better than using E's now!!!! I like layering rub ons onto my photos. I added the distress stickle to areas of the floral rub on for texture and additional interest.

Here are some of the items I used from the ScrapFreak store:
Red Cabbage Flower PP by Jenni Bowlin (right now I think this is sold out...but check again later)
other items used:
So Saffron cardstock by Stampin' Up!
flower rub ons (retired) by Stampin' Up!
Remarks black thickers by American Crafts
felt flower and brads by Making Memories
Pink rhinestone brad by Stampin' Up!
Colorbox Fluid Chalk Inkpad in Charcoal by Clearsnap
ribbon - manufacturer unknown (from my ribbon stash)
black jounaling pen by Stampin' Up!

I'm working on another page....it's drying...then I'll share it! Maybe tomorrow? I hope you all are having a great day!
Look at my GDT button!!!!

Hawaiian Style Fun!

Here's a layout I did last week (I think). I believe it was part of the bonus challenge for the Plum Star Search going on at Vintage Plum. My memory is soooo bad!

I miss Hawaii! I need to visit.....but that takes some CA$H....and with 2 kids....YOU KNOW!

I haven't done many layouts on myself...that's something I need to work on! And I am....but now I don't have very PHOTOS of myself because I'm always the one behind the camera!

I found that butterfly on the CLEARANCE rack at Michaels. I got a package for something like $2.49! There were a bunch of other items I got as well....I'm not going to tell you the grand total though!

Recipe:
black card stock, turquoise card stock (manufacturer unknown)
circle striped patterned paper (Me & My Big Ideas)
Circa 12 pt font stamp by Provo Craft
Versamark ink pad and pen
Stampin' Stuff white detail embossing powder by Stampendous
Clusters (pearl) - crystal stickers by Mark Richards
antique buttons (antique button pack purchased at Michael's)
butterfly die cuts by Prima
handmade tag (won during VP crop)
fluid chalk ink pad in charcoal by ColorBox

The words "Hawaiian Style" were made with my Circa stamp using Versamark ink and then embossed with white detail embossing powder! Then for the word "fun" I just wrote the words with my Versamark Pen and embossed that! This is a real quick way to do titles when you don't have any letters available.....or like me...too lazy to pull out the letter stamps or die cut letters...ha ha!

I can't believe this photo was taken about 11 years ago! Time sure flies!

My Life, My Love, My Family

A couple of months ago, I did some needed scrapbook supply shopping! I purchased some of these wonderful coordinating papers and die cut stickers. They are made by Bella BLVD and the papers are fittingly named Family Tree. I've been waiting for an opportunity to use them....it came!

I used a photo taken of my family last Fall. It's one of my favorite photos ever taken! I only had one photo, so I used transparent self-adhesive photo corners to mount my photo to this layout.

I also used some solid cardstock I already had in my paper stash...but I can't remember where the cardstocks were purchased from.

This layout is very special because family, love and life are all interchangeable...they all mean the same thing to me.
I wanted a ripped and layered look behind the photo so I combined strips of cardstock. I ripped a strip from some patterned paper called Family Circle (Bella BLVD)...love these papers!
I also got to bust out my Scenic Route Grid Chipboard (purchased from Vintage Plum)! It was too much of a bright white...so I gave it an aged look by inking it lightly with Creamy Brown chalk ink by Colorbox.

Here's the a list of goodies I used in this LO:

Family Tree - Growing Up by Bella BLVD
Family Tree - Family Circle by Bella BLVD
Family Tree - Label Additions by Bella BLVD
Family Tree - Family Tree by Bella BLVD

Stampin' Dimensionals by Stampin' Up!
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
Canson Transparent Self-Adhesive Photo Corners
Colorbox Fluid Chalk Inkpads in Creamy Brown and Charcoal
Redmond Chipboard Stencil Worn Grid (Scenic Route)

I cut out various trees from the Family Tree printed paper (Bella BLVD). I tucked a couple of the trees behind the printed green cardstock. The trees which were popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and placed to give the illusion that they were in the foreground. The green printed paper with the vines is called Growing Up (Bella BLVD). I also used the chalk ink here in charcoal to ink the ripped edges. I CAN'T STOP RIPPING CARDSTOCK!!!!! I also can't stop using my fluid chalk ink by Colorbox!

Now...what to do with the rest of the papers!!! Hmmmmmm. Well, that's it for now. Check back in a couple of days....I've got something in the works!
All rightey, that's all folks! Thanks for visiting!!!!
