Mo's Angels

The Pink Ninjas are back again with another cool prompt!
This one is: THROWBACK

Take it how you want it....
but this is what I came up with!

Just a fun layout of me and my girls having fun in my early twenties!!!  We're still friends, hanging out with our kids on our infamous "Pie Nights" where we bring our fave pies to share!  Yummmm!

I loved the Charlie's Angels show back in the day and also the movie.  Loved the depiction of strong independent women....

Check out what the rest of the Ninja's created just to inspire you!
Leave em some love....they really need it!

crazy lovin' and living....

New prompt up at The Pink Ninjas!!!!

Okay, so I couldn't find any Halloween photos to scrap....my room's a MESS!

On my wedding day I had 7 changes of outfits!  Here's one of them!

New Endeavors....
Been itching to create....
This came about last night....
been thinking bout it for a couple weeks...

It's an art journal.
I used to write in a diary...started when I was 7.
My last entry...I was 23 or so....
It's been a long time....

So...to document a new chapter in life, I've got this bad girl!
Life is a struggle sometimes.  This will help me get it all out...
maybe I can learn from myself along the way....
and if as i share...maybe you can too????

First entry:
I've realized that it's been quite awhile since I wrote in a journal...put my thoughts to paper.  I think I was 7 when I started writing in a diary.  Now I'm 34, married, with 2 children.  I'm living the dream I dreamed of as a child...but I wasn't prepared for the challenges that come along with reality.  It's a Learn-As-You-Go life.  No handbook can really tell you what to do because everyone is different with different hurdles and the unpredictability of how life unfolds can really be a roller coaster ride.  This is my journey...

Stay tuned for more....

Hugs,
Mo

P.S.
Have you figured out my secret yet?
You'll find out on Halloween!

home sweet home

Good Wednesday morning to you!!!!  Well, here is my share for my layout for the newest Pink Ninja's prompt...HERITAGE! (Callista...can you see the goodies from the goodie box you gave me?????)

I also used the Kismet/September 2010 kit from Simply Obsessed.

This is a good one!  This is a photo of my family when we lived in Hawaii.  I'll always consider it our home.  We were immigrants from the Philippines, lucky enough to make our way here because dad was in the Navy...and would be for at least 25 years.

I remember the day I became an American Citizen at the young age of 8.  I didn't quite understand what it meant, but I knew it was very important....so that must have been why I recall all the waiting....during the interviewing process....all that time spent kicking stones and dust while outside, standing in lines, baking in the hot sun.....ha ha.

I really wished I could scrap some old photos of my family in the Philippines, but both families had devastating fires which burned up all the old photos....so sad.  I will never see what my great grandmother looked like...the one my mother loved so dearly....makes me sad sometimes.  I won't be able to see a photo of my great grandfather with is "high Spanish nose" as my grandmother used to say.  Apparently he was a handsome man....sigh...would have loved to see pictures....

So, hopefully my grandchildren, great grandchildren and other generations to come will see this layout and know where they came from.

Remember this project?   Well, it's featured at the All About Me Challenge blog today on my class/idea post to help with some inspiration!  Hop on over and give me some love!!!!

While your there, check out the last challenge "The Artist in Me" and think about playing along!  Scrap Freak is this month's sponsor!!!

Thanks for stopping you guys!!!!!

Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a secret...............you'll have to wait and see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mo's Playlist

I've been having fun with this mosaic maker!
The prompts for BOTH All About Me and The Pink Ninja's worked TOGETHER!
I had a lot of fun making this one......

For All About Me, the challenge is "One Little Word".....I chose the word "listen"...although I didn't use it in my title....I'm always breaking the rules....lol!
But it did prompt me to create this layout...and that's all that matters right????
Because in the end...there really aren't any rules!
And that's the way I like it!  (wink, wink)

I just saved my creation I made using "mosaic maker" and then printed it out.
I cut it up into strips.
played with paint,,,played with the computer,,,played with a transparency,,,,so much fun,,,,
I also created my FIRST 8.5 x 11 layout!......LOVE!

The Pink Ninja prompt is called "PLAYLIST".....

I love to listen to music...I've been listening to so much of it since I got my can't-live-without-it iPhone!
These are only some of my fave artists....

who do YOU listen to?
i'd LOVE to see what you come up with!

I hope you can play along with us at both challenge blogs!

Over at AAM, Lucky Girl Crafts is the sponsor!  Play and you could win a $20 gift certificate!

I know it's a busy time....
the last thing I created was this layout....i haven't been in my craft room....it's been almost a couple weeks!!!!
i'm sure it misses me......i sure miss it back...

I'm hoping to get in there soon!

Demons....Play Ball!

(click on photo for larger photo)

Photobucket

This week for my design team layout for All About Me Challenge Blog, I went a little dark...

As always, the rest of the DT had very different takes....some lighthearted and funny and some seriously dark...do with it as you wish!

And for this prompt you can WIN A PRIZE!  Up for grabs is a bunch of Core'dinations Cardstock provided by Melissa!  How sweet!

SO, if you need some extra motivations.....THERE YOU GO!

This was a little of a struggle for me.  Demons.  I'm a very optimistic and positive person, but I do have my demons.  I thought it would be interesting to delve into that side of me that I don't usually think about.
A version of me that used to be.

The title of my layout is "i love the way you lie" which I took from a song by Eminem featuring Rihanna.  It was difficult for me to really journal my mood.  This song really seemed to have that dark feel to it, so I journaled the lyrics and as a whole, it seems to reflect a "me" about 10 years ago.

She wasn't always nice, honest, caring, and kind.
In fact, she was mean, selfish, hurtful, violent, jealous and vengeful.
Seriously.....Sad....
But, it was a part of me I had to get through and learn from.
I don't think I'd want to be that way again, but it was an important step to becoming the person I've grown into today, so I guess if I was given an option to change that part of my life...I don't think I would have.

Here are the lyrics I used as journaling:
"Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie...."

Here's the song if ya wanna listen...but be aware that there is some profanity in the lyrics:

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

I really love this layout though!  It's so raw and real!  I don't know how this all came about...but it did in one sitting.  I love how I used vellum strips to journal on and then used it as a cage.
I think I've created some of my best work using dark prompts.
I love the mirrored teardrop, the stamping, the glitter around my eye, the hue of the photo and the sewing I did on the layout.  I also did some fun embossing using a woodgrain stamped pattern.

Now I have to say, I've never had a violent relationship like the one depicted in this song.  It's just a reflection of what I felt inside.  I swear, sometimes I did things because I honestly didn't care about myself at times.  And I did things to others because they hurt me and I wanted to hurt them back.
I didn't respect myself and I think I even dated men who I knew I wouldn't respect, just so I new I could walk away whenever I wanted.  And several times I walked away without a word, phone call, explanation.  I just didn't really care about anyone...not even myself.

And knowing what I know now, I was just dealing with demons then that even reached as far back as my young childhood.  Finally, after being hurt so many times by those I cared for, I think I snapped.

I don't know why I did the things I did, but I'm glad I eventually made peace with myself enough to begin to enjoy my life again.  And that's the Mo you all probably know.

Let's now move on to some fun!

High School was a pretty fun time in my life, though.
That's where the Pink Ninja Prompt layout comes in...

Bust out all those sports pictures you know you all have been waiting to scrap!
I know, I know...here we go again with that Pink Ninja Addicts Accidentally Kelly Kit....I KNOW!
More of my beautiful papers put to good use.

I was on the tennis team!  I loved it!  I had some of my best memories on the tennis team playing with some of my best friends!

I did some fun hand stitching here and then attached the pieces to my layout.  I loved that "report card"!  I tucked it into a pocket I created.  The back is meant for some journaling (which I didn't do yet).

It was fun and therapeutic doing all the reminiscing I did working on these two pages.
Now it's YOUR turn to play!

Hope your week has been going well!

Mo

Ninja Swap!

Ready?
Set?
SWAP!

Prompt #41: Swap
Are you ready to see a Ninja Swap? This last prompt is one of my most fave Ninja Prompts so far! The Ninja Masters had us swap photos and scrap! I got to scrap this beautiful photo belonging to Ninja April.

Well...not THAT photo above...the one below, I just wanted to put a pic of Ninja April up!

(i did some stamping and embossing here...can you see?  he he....it's the woodgrain stamp...i used white embossing powder....love the texture.  And you know how you have buttons and sometimes get tired of putting string through the holes..but need something in them?  I put a brad through the chipboard button on that red flower and addedsome goodies to it as well!)
That fabulous chipboard button is from Such Sweet Tierney!

Wanna see the gorgeous layout April made for me?

Isn't it beautiful!  She did such a crazy rockin' job with the photo and the papers and that flower!!!  LOVE IT!  I can't wait till this page is in my grubby little hands!

So, for the next promp, SWAP! Trade out a photo and scrap away!
And here's some 4th of July photos to share!

We drove to a park to picnic.

Them Roots Run Deep...

This prompt was F.U.N.!

So now the Pink Ninjas are back!
The prompt is ROOTS.
Come up with whatever and play along!!!!

After LOTS of thinking....I chose to scrap about my beautiful Grammies.
I found this picture of the both of them taken years ago when I was a little girl.

I'm like them in a lot of ways and I wanted to scrap about it.  Wow, and I as loveable as these ladies??????  He he!

I got my creativity from my Gramma Idad.  I inherited a lot of other traits too.  Gramma took care of me and my sisters while my parents were at work.  I'm lucky to have had that special connection to her.  I was her sidekick, always seeing what she was up to and asking her questions.  I learned a lot from her.

Once, this girl was bullying me by following me home from school and yelling behind me, threatening me and calling me names....don't feel too bad for me....(long story, I had a mouth on me as a girl and said something about HER friend...that friend of hers was such a snot and THAT'S what I had said out loud to someone I knew).  Anyways, the Bully threatened me not to tell on them for following me home from school and taunting me.  Well, that biotch didn't know who she was messing with cuz you DON'T tell me what I can't do...cuz then I'll just SHOW you I can do it!  And for some reason, in my life I've always had BACKUP!  I ran on home to Gramma crying cuz I was PISSED at that Amazon Girl and scared cuz she could squash me like a bug if she wanted (she was HUGE)!  My Gramma took my hand and stomped over to both houses (with me cringing and pointing the way to each house) and spoke to their family.  Oh man!  She was good and maaaad...had her hands on her hips and everything!  The girl who got her bully friend to scare me got a spanking and the Amazon Bully got nothing cuz my Gramma couldn't find her parents and spoke to her teenage cousin instead.  I got an apology from the little Snotty one and the Amazon left me alone as well!

Like that story?  The moral.....don't talk smack unless you got backup RIGHT THERE or your odds are decent and you can duke it out yourself!  And, though I have to say anytime I open my mouth to say something about someone it's well-deserved and true.  I've always been careful what I say about people.  I'm not a gossip, I just despise rudeness in people and speak up when necessary.

And Gramma Mely....uh....I gotta thank her for my funloving traits!  When this woman gets the giggles....IT'S ALL OVER!  Sometimes, she'll be telling a story and start laughing at what she's thinking.....we STILL start cracking up cuz she's laughing so stinking hard she starts to pee her pants and wheeze!!!  And in the end, the family doesn't really even know what she was laughing so hard at but we're all wiping our tears of laughter away!  It's not uncommon for the whole family to laugh for 5 minutes straight when she's around.

I miss them both.  Muah to Gramma Idad in Heaven and to Gramma Mely in the Philippines.

Oh yes, forgot to tell you, I used my Pink Ninja Addicts Kit called Thrift Shop Junkie.
I love my Ninja Kits, I can't get enough!
I love the original elements in them and the awesome of girly blended with tough!  Too cool!

Remember, if ya wanna see some cool things other Ninja's have done with the kits, go to the Pink Ninja Addicts Blog and the Pink Ninja Nation GALLERY!  If you have a Ninja Kit and would like to contribute a creation (and be a Ninja too) let Ally or Nely know and they'll add you so you can post and share to the Ninja Nation Blog!

Happy Wednesday!

Hugs,
Mo

Me's a Ninja AGAIN!  He he!  Yay!  I love my Ninja Ladies!
Say hello to the newest team and get to know them better HERE!

And more pics of our trip to Hawaii!

Bel and my super cute cousins...I miss them already!

So beautiful, my baby girl!

She likes to pose...he he!

I love this one!

We went to visit my Grandpa who is now 86!  I love that he's wearing a hot pink shirt and pajama bottoms!  LOL!

The little monsters got to enjoy some virgin foo foo drinks because they saw my sister and I enjoying ours!
Yumm!

At Sea Life Park.  Gabe is in a face-making phase!

View from Pali lookout!  Gorgeous.

Gabe is trying to make the shaka sign...heeeee.

And these are my two most FAVE photos from our trip!

Gabe's ugly Uncle Nith face (his uncle makes these nasty faces and got my kids to make them)!

A different face.

Even I get in on the nasty face action once in a while.

Well, Happy Wendnesday to you all!  I'm still editing pics.  Grandpa wants copies so I'm working on that!
I've got a few days off before returning to work so I hope to get my SCRAP on!

I think this vaca to Hawaii is THE BEST EVER (as Bel put it) vaca of all!!!!  I really feel like I leave a part of me behind whenever I leave Oahu.  I have so many fond memories of my childhood.  It's amazing how both things have changed...and some things are still the same.  Wow.

I will also have to share some cute finds....I'm sure many of my scrapping buddies will agree!

Back here in Washington in's 50's, rainy and overcast...such a change from the sunny 80 degree weather of Hawaii!  What's the weather been like in your neck of the woods?????

Hugs,
Mo
